From Desire to Loss

Filed under: loss, love, poetry — by shalabieh @ 3:16 pm

The sparkles of your eyes
The mischievous twist of your lips
The words falling from your mouth

Desire.

The softness of your lips
The lushness of your hair
The warmth of your body next to mine

Lust.

The sinking of the sun
The Shadow of the moon
The darkness of night

Memory.

The emptiness of a well
The shattering of glass
The dry river bed

Loss.

  1. Each word is given it’s own moment in this poem..almost like 4 poems in one. This one is fantastic.

  2. Thanks – each one of these words is more than a moment and more than a word.
